Re-integration Story....
Got an email from Kaitlin about something that one of the returned trainees Fady shared in AIESEC Egypt's re-integration seminar...
What Fady said hit something in me since I used not to believe in Egypt's Arabness till I went to an IC in Germany and bonded with the Moroccans and then later with the Tunisians and the Emiratis...
One of the questions that Kaitlin threw at them was:
"What was one specific point or event in which you realized a change within yourself, what was it and how has it impacted you"
Fady Younan: Salaam trainee in DC said:
" it was really great being at the summer conference. for a lot of reason but the main one the stayed with me was actually seeing the other Arab students. For my whole life I have not believed in a "Pan Arab World" I did not see Egyptians as Arabs but as Egyptians, unique to their own culture and life. Did not see myself the same as Arabs from the Gulf or North Africa and I thought that a united Arab World would only hold Egypt Back. But then I met all the guys from Morocco and Tunisia and especially Aqueel. And I saw in them what I felt and saw in myself; pride for my country, pride for my culture and a new pride for the Arab World.
I can honestly say that I see a New Arab Generation forming and I am proud to be apart of it."
