Religion, decrepitude threaten downtown Cairo bars

I have only ever been to two of the downtown bars, Hurriya and the Greek Club, although I studied in that part of town for 4 years...

I am planning a downtown exploratory walk end of this month...I had done that one with a friend of mine who was visiting and was looking at buying an old map of the Middle East, we kept on walking around downtown for like 2 hours and we came across the best places ever, which I was not aware of. Downtown Cairo is a maze of small amazing places that are usually shadowed by the clutter of bigger tackier shops...

Cairo's downtown rocks but then it needs to receive more interest and an inflow of money for its authentic side to survive...
